Go behind the scenes as we quiz our web developers to see what makes them tick.

What’s a typical day like in the web team?

Luke: A bit of everything! I usually clear off emails first thing, and we have a web team huddle every morning to check in on projects. In-between builds, I could be in a client kickoff meeting, collaborating with the design and marketing team, supporting hosting requests – or anything in between.

Stu: Coffee. Loads of it.

How do you build websites at Kensa?

Luke: From scratch. We’re all about clean code and custom builds.

Stu: Unlike a lot of places, we get to work with the designers. It’s great when ideas flow both ways, and the results are always better.

What tools are you using most right now?

Luke: WordPress still rocks for flexibility, with ACF for easy content updates.

Stu: Agree with Luke – WordPress is king for client websites. Also a big fan of TailwindCSS for quick, consistent styling.

What do clients ask you the most?

Luke: Can you build this? Usually, yes. But then the real questions start!

Stu: How long will it take? Depends on scope, but I’m a fan of realistic timelines – you can’t really cut corners if you want solid results.

Got a favourite build?

Luke: Recently made an interactive F1 reaction time game for a customer event, bringing together some cool visuals with secure data capture. That was a fun one to test in the office!

Stu: Got a nice build coming up with a 3D product configurator. It’s taken some serious collaboration with our 3D modelling team, but we’ve made our own app and it’s awesome.

Toughest thing you’ve tackled?

Luke: Anything with a large database and lots of touchpoints is always a challenge. One that comes to mind is a customer portal we developed for an abattoir, packed with data all the way down to how much beef you could get from each cow. That was insightful!

Stu: An online exam portal – think online GCSEs, but packed with videos, animations and effects to make it into a story. That one was a beast.

How do you switch off?

Luke: Topping up my ink, loud bass and the odd gaming session where someone definitely rage‑quits. It’s all about balance!

Stu: I like to get outdoors – gotta touch grass once in a while.

Kensa in three words?

Luke: Down to earth.

Stu: Creative. Collaborative. Crazy.
